Rock and Worship Road Report Week #1.
First weekend success! After taking a month or so off to finish up our new record and be with our families it has been a great feeling to get back out on the road. This past weekend we started the first run of the Rock and Worship Roadshow which is an awesome tour hosted by our friends in MercyMe.
How We Roll...on a Bus!
A long overdue greeting is at order. Hello everyone! We have spent the last few weeks getting much needed time with our families. It felt great to spend some time with loved ones and also put the finishing touches on our new album. It’s hard to decide where we should start with all of this news but since we’ve gotten a lot of questions/comments lately about the “Bus Go Campaign” we figure tonight would be the perfect time to announce…. DRUM ROLL PLEASE!!!
Story Behind "Live Like That"
There comes a point in our lives when we’re confronted with a question…one that faces all of us who struggle in the face of addiction, sickness, brokenness and loneliness. That question is this: What exactly is this life for? It’s in those times that we’re reminded of those who have impacted our life…grandparents, parents, teachers and pastor. We realize that in them we saw a deep passion, an unashamed faith and a love that knew no bounds. Whether they knew it or not, we saw Christ in them. There’s a passage in Hebrews that gives us strength…
Exerting a Little Effort in 2012. @swpbenjamin
I'll be the first to admit that my facial hair has become a bit out of control. It's been 7 months or so since I stopped grooming my face and in those passing months I have learned a lot of interesting things.
First of all there are the obvious complications that come with beard-growing. Food in the whiskers, people not recognizing you, airport security questioning your motives for traveling etc... These are all things I got to experience first hand over the past half year.
Christmas With Sidewalk Prophets
We love Christmas and here are a few of our favorite things about this time of year!
DAVE
Favorite Christmas Memory: One of my favorite gifts that I've ever received was a Nintendo entertainment system. I came downstairs to find this rectangular box and inside was a gorgeous gray piece of the 90's. Fast forward to college and I'm playing Mario still and who should happen to walk in to my dorm room, but Ben McDonald. I like to think that it was because of the Nintendo that here we are today with a band together named Sidewalk Prophets.
Hope and Espresso
I had a dream tonight about hope, and even though it is 2:15AM and we have to drive so, so early to a show tomorrow, I had to write it down. Picture this, I was sitting at a small table with God, and we were in Paris. I only know that it was Paris because I am blessed to have been there before, and also the setting reminded me of the movie “Ratatouille.” Anyway, God and I were having a conversation, and I was afraid.
Lambeau Leap...A Trip To Green Bay
So all of the guys in the band are huge sports fans! We all have our favorite teams. Dave is a die-hard Colts fan, Justin is a Steelers fan, Cal is a Bears fan, Shaun and I are Lions fans. We got the chance not too long ago to travel to historic Lambeau Field in Green Bay, WI and take a private tour.
Thanksgiving: An Ode to Mom’s Cooking
My mom is not what you would call an amazing cook. She tries very hard, and she often does a great job. Last Christmas, we had some roasted lamb. Mom had never cooked lamb before, and it tasted awesome. The next day I got terribly ill, but the night I ate the lamb I was feeling good. My family always gives mom a hard time about her cooking, but tonight I was feeling a little nostalgic thinking about Thanksgiving. I wanted to share the two main reasons that I am thankful that my mom is not a master cook.
